Jimmy Dean

DJ PROFILE- Jimmy Dean
Jimmy’s passion for music started when he was just 9 years old, going on various tours around the globe with his dads rock band. Whilst most 11 year olds were playing on sonic Jimmy was in and out of recording studios and listening to various genres of music. His fingers first touched a vinyl when he was 13, his mother brought him his first set of decks after he completely trashed her single deck player and most of her Queen collection!!! Brill creamed curtains and the odd blackhead ! Jimmy opted to go to ‘Our Price records’ on his work experience, he soon found that he was working in the wrong music out let.
With a room full of screaming teenagers, rope lights, a police beacon and “Cotton Eyed Joe”, wasn’t exactly Jimmy’s idea of a wicked set but he still got the same buzz watching everyone feeling the music! Luckily he had found a pub to host his own event and at 15 was running ‘Kayos’ at The Navigation!!!. After a short break, this later got moved to a local night club ‘Artys’ in Ashby de la Zouch.
After deciding not to go to work at Our Price records Jimmy begged friend Nick Lunn to give him a job in his record shop ‘Icon records’ which specialized in dance music. Jimmy first met Nick at the night club he had applied to work at as a glass-collector ‘The Emporium’. Nick gave him a job in the record shop and after many failed attempts Jimmy got the job in the club too!
Finding himself watching DJ’s techniques rather than picking up bottles, not surprisingly Jimmy got bored working as a glass collector at The Emporium.
Playing a set next door to The Emporium at The Engine, just 15 years old Jimmy had felt the atmosphere that was created when he was behind the decks.
He then started an event in Burton upon Trent, ‘Essentials’ warming up for major djs such as Ed Real, Charlotte Birch, Lisa pin up to name a few, the platform was set for Jimmy’s musical career and the journey began……
The summer of 2005 Jimmy was asked to go back to The Emporium as a promoter.
Before he started back, Jimmy was about to launch a new Hard House event at a state of the art club in Nottingham, ‘The Venue’ which was a great achievement to him. XSTATIC started on Thursdays at The Venue and through the hard work of him and co owner Jack, Xstatic had moved from Thursdays to Fridays.
By this time there was a solid following of clubbers and a close nit team behind Xstatic, which proved to work well as the club owner John Walton had seen how determined Jimmy, Jack and their team were, he moved their event to Saturdays.
Self-confessed workaholic Jimmy works 15 hrs a day Promoting Passion, Storm and Hco at The Emporium, also several other events including Xstatic and Fixation at The Venue. Weekends normally see Jimmy playing in various clubs or standing outside venues at 5am handing out flyer packs for the promotions company he also works for ‘HeadJog Promotions’
‘For as long as I can remember I’ve always wanted to be a DJ, I always new I would be working in the music industry, even though its damn hard work I fuckin love it !!! I know what I wanna do and I no where I wanna go in life, and all of it involves music !!! I’m 21 now and my ambition is to make my own records that I play in a club that I own, which I promote my self and I don’t care how long it takes!!! (don’t want much ay) !!!!!
From what you can see Xstatic is fast becoming a well known brand an with the help of Jack, the Xstatic team and the crazy clubbers, Xstatic will become known for its quality house music and its Xstatic atmosphere!! IT’S ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC!!!
Watch ya back Tidy! Ha ha ha ha ……….
